What Men Want in a Woman
I hear a lot of women puzzle over how to get a guy to willingly commit to a relationship, because as soon as she mentions the word ‘commit’ he usually starts to back away. Fortunately, it’s not as hard as you might think to get a guy to shift from “I’m just not ready for anything serious yet” to “I’m in this for the long-haul”. While everyone is a little bit different, here are the common traits and values that most men are looking for before they consider committing to a relationship. He wants to feel like a man. I’m not talking about traditional gender roles where he’s the breadwinner, or he does all of the handy work around the house. What I mean when I say, he wants to feel like a man, is that he wants to know he can take care of you and that he feels needed and appreciated by you. Basically, he should have a special role with you in your relationship that no one else will fill and he knows it (just like you have a special role with him that no one else will fill). He’s looking for a woman who is warm and nurturing, who he can go to when he feels stressed out or tired. Someone who can make him feel at home, supported, and understood. He doesn’t want to come home to nagging and think of his home life as “work”. The kind of woman he’s going to want to settle down with is a woman who he feels safe to open up to and feels appreciated in the relationship. He wants you to be your own person. Yes, he’s looking for someone to care about him, but he doesn’t want you to sit at home all day waiting for him to come back. When looking for a life partner, men are attracted to a woman who can stand on her own with confidence. Who has her own ambitions, knows what she wants, and isn’t afraid to go after it. You should continue to strive being the best individual that you can be, even after you’re in a relationship, because that will be a big way to keep things interesting between you. Finally, he wants to have fun. The stereotype that scares most men off from relationships is the thought of having a nagging wife or girlfriend, who holds him down, and ruins any fun he might have. What you need to do is show that you aren’t the person who creates drama and that a relationship with you isn’t going to drag him down, in fact it’s going to lift him up. It’s essential to bring an element of playfulness into your relationship, where the two of you can let loose and feel like kids messing around sometimes. You don’t want your relationship to feel like work, your relationship is where you go to relax and relieve yourself of the day’s stress- and that’s what he’s looking for, too. Get silly, have fun, and laugh together. Being able to make someone laugh is an incredibly powerful tool of attraction and if you can lift his spirits, make him feel alive and like a kid again, he’ll want to hold on tightly to you. The first and foremost rule you should live by is to always strive to improve yourself in one way or another. You don’t have to be a professional comedian or an entrepreneur to have an awesome relationship, you’ll find what works for you and what your personal preferences are. But everyone has room to grow and growing will only improve your situation! If you’re interested in learning more about relationships or self improvement tips, check out the rest of our videos!
